Sheriff's office: 13-year-old missing WI girl found alive

Jayme Closs teenager missing since October whose parents were murdered found alive

A 13-year-old Wisconsin girl, missing since her parents were discovered shot dead in their home three months ago, was found on Thursday (Jan 10), malnourished and dirty but alive, after apparently fleeing her captor in a remote community, police and media said.

Police haven't revealed the condition of Jayme, who was found late Thursday afternoon in Douglas County, in the USA state of Wisconsin.

A person of interest was also taken into custody by police, authorities said, but it was not immediately clear if the suspect was wanted for the killing of Closs' parents or her kidnapping.

Sources tell FOX6 News Walworth County authorities are investigating after two bodies were found on a property near Woodfield Court and Highway J in East Troy.

We want to thank the Douglas Co Sheriff's Department and agencies assisting them tonight. They also want to thank all the law enforcement agencies across the state and county that have assisted us in the case. "From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!"

Jayme Closs had been missing since her parents, James and Denise Closs, were found fatally shot in their home on October 15.

In December, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald shared troubling details about the crime scene with DailyMail.com.

Robert Naiberg said that nothing seemed amiss at the gathering, and that Jayme was "quiet as always". We are receiving support from the FBI and WI DCI agents as this investigation continues. She was located in Gordon, Wisconsin, officials said. Police arrived to find the door kicked in, but Jayme was nowhere to be found, and investigators believe she was abducted and may be in danger.

On Thursday the girl, who appeared skinny and dirty, with matted-down hair, reportedly approached a woman who was out walking her dog.

In the 20 minutes Jayme was in their home, the Kasinskas tried to make her feel more comfortable, they said.

Sheriff Fitzgerald was planning a news conference next week to mark 90 days since her abduction.

On Monday 15 October 2018, emergency services received a call at the family address from a mobile phone and heard a disturbance in the background, but no-one spoke to them directly.

Jayme's aunt, Kelly Engelhardt, told KARE 11 that the news is what the family has "prayed for" every day.
