Sandra Bullock Is Not "The Lady From Bird Box", Children

Signage is displayed during the'Bird Box after party in the Roosevelt Ballroom during AFI FEST 2018

Netflix's "Bird Box" has proved to be incredibly popular since its release on December 21st. It made someone refer to star Sandra Bullock as the "lady from Bird Box, " causing everyone who would instead refer to her as the lady from Speed (and, you know, everything else) to feel like a fossil.

Some digging by The Verge indicates that at least 45M people watched at least 70% of the supernatural thriller.

Early on in "Bird Box" we see Sandra Bullock's character Mallory painting a picture that kind of looks like The Last Supper.

Shares of Netflix are up 33% YTD.

"Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched "Bird Box" - best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!" the streaming service's official Twitter posted on Friday, alongside a GIF of the flick's leading lady taking off her blindfold and saying, "Oh my god".

This assertion attracted some side-eyeing from those familiar with Netflix's general behavior in reporting. But where exactly do they appear?

As Business Insider pointed out, it doesn't necessarily mean all those accounts wound up finishing Bird Box. Each account was only counted once.

The film has stirred up a lot of positive feedback with Chrissy Teigen applauding Sandra and director Susanne Bier for keeping her up at night over Christmas with unusual dreams, and the actress is glad she signed on for a role, in which she's blindfolded for much of the action. Will traditional studios trust and value it? Figures released by the streaming service show that it is their most viewed original movie in its opening seven days. Directed by Sussane Bier (The Night Manager), the film packs in a killer ensemble cast including Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Lil Rey Howery, Danielle Macdonald, and Jacki Weaver. My nine-year-old little boy shouldn't see this film now.

Or maybe it was all the jokes and memes filling the internet - they are good publicity, after all.
