New congresswoman calls to impeach President Trump in video

Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib Will be Sworn in Using Thomas Jefferson's Quran

"You can't impeach somebody who is doing a great job", he said, echoing his tweet from Thursday morning. Bullies don't win.' And I said, 'Baby, they don't.

Tlaib's comment drew a huge round of applause from the MoveOn crowd, and the congresswomen doubled down on her call for impeaching Trump the following day when she tweeted, "I will always speak truth to power".

Tlaib already stood out from the crowd in congress as a woman, a Muslim, a Detroiter, and the first Palestinian American elected to congress. Brad Sherman of California and Al Green of Texas introduced articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

She said that was in part a "generational" difference, but also called out Trump for language he has used.

Still, it will be hard for Pelosi to quiet some on her left flank who see their new majority as a direct challenge to Trump.

Thankfully, she and other Democratic leaders seem to be listening to their progressive base - which, despite the naysayers in the pundit class, was overwhelmingly supportive of Tlaib on social media.

The 20-second clip of Tlaib's profane declaration, which was shared on Twitter by Nestor Ruiz, a digital organizer for immigrant advocacy group United We Dream, quickly made the rounds Thursday night. Newly minted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on the Today Show Thursday that it could depend on the results of the special counsel's investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation.

Tlaib, who is an attorney and former state legislator, said this is not about Trump but about all of us.

Party elders also sought to calm talk of impeachment without criticizing Tlaib directly.

I love Michelle Obama's message of "When they go low, we go high".

But it's no secret that many Democrats - and many Americans in general - believe Trump should and will be impeached.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders blasted the remarks as proof Democrats had "no solutions for America" and suggested Tlaib was simply trying to boost her own political career.

'With that said, we are not going to wait for the Mueller report.
