FBI Agents Arrest Longtime Trump Confidant Roger Stone

Trump adviser Roger Stone arrested on seven charges

Roger Stone, Donald Trump's longtime political ally and self-described "dirty trickster", was arrested this morning in Florida.

As the Daily Wire reported Friday, video aried by CNN shows about a dozen Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, armed with rifles and wearing protective gear, surrounding Stone's Florida home and then pounding on the door.

The reason for the alarming early morning visit: to arrest Stone on a seven-count charge consisting of five counts of making false statements, one count of witness tampering, and one count of obstruction.

Stone is now expected to appear in court on Friday afternoon. After an enormous document dump in June 2016 by "Organization 1", the indictment alleges that a "senior Trump campaign official was directed" to contact Stone about potential further damaging releases from the organization. Wikileaks finally released October 7 what would become the first of multiple batches of emails stolen from the Clinton campaign.

CNN grabbed some video footage of the Federal Bureau of Investigation arresting Stone, showing a group of agents approaching his home, and, after knocking, one agent says, "FBI".

We embedded the video below. The current USA president and the famous political consultant, who worked on Republican campaigns such as Nixon and Reagan, first met in 1979 and have worked side by side since the late 1980s. Trump is questioning the impartiality of Robert Mueller's investigation and says the probe is groundless, while raising doubts about whether a fired top FBI official kept personal memos outlining his interactions with Trump.

AP notes that the indictment "does not charge Stone with conspiring with WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy website that published the emails, or with the Russian officers Mueller says hacked them".

The prosecutors also charged Stone for lying to the committee about his public statements in early August 2016, his attempt to reach out to WikiLeaks, as well his communications with an intermediary, and the Trump campaign.

The indictment accuses Stone of carrying out a "prolonged effort" to keep Credico from contradicting his testimony before the House intelligence committee.

In 2017, Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he didn't recall having a conversation with Stone "basically past the first week or two of our campaign", and that "I didn't really deal with Roger too much".

Over the years, Stone served as a northeast regional political director for Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, and also a political consultant or campaign manager to other Republicans, including Bob Dole, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Jack Kemp, Prescott Bush, and the former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean. Mueller has indicted several Trump-campaign associates but has not charged anyone for colluding with Russian Federation.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has said that Trump did have a few phone calls with Stone during the campaign based on the phone records he reviewed.

"I will never testify against Trump", the president tweeted last month, quoting Stone.

Mr Mueller's office has said those emails, belonging to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, were hacked by Russian intelligence officers.

The dog - a Coton de Tulear named Bianca - belongs to New York City comedian, radio host and moonlighting civil rights activist Randy Credico. A process against Richard Nixon was also initiated, but it was interrupted by Nixon's resignation.

The 24-page indictment is peppered with alleged threats, some with typos or grammatical errors, from Stone to the unnamed associate.

Stone is also accused of threatening Credico, including through messages in which he called him "rat" and "stoolie" and accused him of backstabbing his friends.
