Ellen ‘forgives’ defiant Kevin Hart’s homophobia & says he should host the Oscars

Kevin Hart ‘evaluating’ returning to host the Oscars after Ellen De Generes sit-down

DeGeneres, who moved up the release of an interview with Hart to Friday, urged him to reconsider hosting the Oscars, saying she had contacted someone, whom she did not identify, at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and that they were still interested in him doing so.

The report also describes the trouble the Academy has had in finding a replacement for the ceremony celebrating excellence in film, while also coming on the heels of Hart's appearance on The Ellen Show.

DeGeneres was met with criticism on social media, with some commenters saying that Hart's homophobic jokes were a legitimate issue for discussion, and it wasn't a case of people maliciously trying to hurt him. He pulled the plug on the gig last month. "I sincerely apologise to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past".

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres set to air Friday, the host said she reached out to the Academy on Hart's behalf.

"There are so many haters out there".

"Rather than giving him free rein to speak and labelling his critics as 'haters, ' DeGeneres, with her decades of experience, could have steered the discussion in a more productive direction", Staples added.

What do you think of the heat Ellen DeGeneres is taking for her position on Kevin Hart?

But that sentiment was far from universal. The meat of the problem here isn't even necessarily that Hart said these hurtful words in the first place, it's that when confronted with these bad jokes, instead of expressing regret, Hart responded with anger.

"It's a shame that DeGeneres has made a decision to serve as the instrument of that kind of perpetually embattled Hollywood bubble thinking", Harris went on.

As someone who's been watching the Oscars for a long time, I can attest that the best Oscars hosts go out of their way to make the ceremony not about them. However, thanks to a trip to the Ellen Show, he might change his mind. "But me, being a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will", Hart said in the routine. I'm sorry. But either my apology is accepted or it isn't. "This was to end all partnerships, all brand relationships, all investment opportunities, studio relationships, my production company and the people that work underneath me". This wasn't an accident. "It wasn't a coincidence that the day after I received the job that tweets just somehow manifested from 2008", he said. But, according to Ellen DeGeneres, that's because they're waiting for him to return. I look at life through a different lens, and because of that I live it a different way. "It's bigger than just the Oscars". "It's about the individuals that are out there now that are finding success in damaging your 'celebrity'".

"But they're gonna win if you don't host the Oscars", DeGeneres said.

"You have grown. You have apologised. I'm glad it's as authentic and real as I could've hoped it would be", he added. "That interview made me miss the previous talk show hosts that asked tough questions".
