Cleveland Cavaliers sign Patrick McCaw to offer sheet

Patrick McCaw

Back in October, Golden State was willing to offer McCaw two years and $5.2 million, but the third-year guard declined that, per The Undefeated's Marc Spears.

It's important to note that the Warriors can match any offer sheet McCaw receives from another team, so the move isn't finalized just yet.

The deal will pay McCaw $3 million in each of the next two seasons, but the Cavs or Warriors could waive McCaw before January 7 and not be liable for his remaining salary. McCaw's 2019-20 contract is non-guaranteed for $3 million.

It appears as if the Patrick McCaw saga is nearing an end.

McCaw never reported to training camp during the offseason, apparently holding out in the hopes that another team would offer him more than the Warriors' $1.7 million qualifying offer.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at UNLV, was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (38th pick overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft.

If the Warriors choose to match, their luxury tax bill would increase from $50.3 million to $61.6 million, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

He averaged four points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 57 games last season.
