Brahim Diaz: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez backs signing from Man City

Manchester City's Brahim Diaz celebrates scoring a goal with team mates

Madrid, fifth in La Liga, announced the signing of the Spanish midfielder for a reported 15 million euros (£13.4 million) from the Premier League club after a 2-0 defeat by Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Reports suggest Brahim has agreed a £60,000-a-week contract with the European champions, who have, crucially, guaranteed him a spot in the senior squad.

Diaz is clearly highly-rated by City, but the young winger has apparently been drawn back to his homeland in search of more regular first team football.

"When I decided it was time to leave Manchester City I only considered three options: the first was joining Real Madrid, the second was playing at Real Madrid and the third and last was playing at Real Madrid".

The clause further reflects the reluctance of the Premier League champions to part ways with one of their brightest young stars, with City having apparently failed in their bid to tie Diaz to a new contract.

Díaz will undergo his medical with "Los Blancos" on Monday morning, before being presented to the Real Madrid fans at 13:30 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

City have also included an agreement whereby they would receive 40% of any future transfer fee if Brahim were to join Manchester United.

He only made 15 first-team appearances during his time at City and played just four times this season.

It has been widely believed that Spanish giants Real Madrid have always been interested in his services.

Santiago Solari's side are now fifth in La Liga and 10 points behind leaders Barcelona following a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad on Sunday.
