Prospect of another recount in Florida sparks partisan showdown

Left to right Andrew Gillum Ron DeSantis Bill Nelson Rick Scott

When another journalist asked about the Florida race, Trump lit into the subject, telling us about "bad things" that have gone on in Broward County, Florida, the place where votes are being counted in a Senate race between Republican Rick Scott and Democrat Bill Nelson.

In a call with reporters Thursday, Nelson's lawyer, Marc Elias, said that the race now stands as a "jump ball" as counties around the state canvass their votes, but he believes Nelson will prevail in the end. By Thursday afternoon, Nelson's deficit had fallen to just 17,000, or 0.22 percent.

Bill Nelson, filed an emergency complaint to enforce Florida's public records act late Thursday night against Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes. The office is under state monitoring.

Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes said she didn't know how many ballots remain to be counted, but all were being processed.

As of Friday morning, Scott led Nelson by about 15,000 votes, and DeSantis led Gillum by about 36,000 votes. There are several races too close to call in Arizona, especially the Senate race between Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema and Republican candidate Martha McSally. Democrats have blamed the fact that Senate box appeared in a corner of the ballot beneath the instructions, saying many voters missed it.

In speaking with Florida Politics, Murphy laid out how he discovered his vote would not be counted.

In a conference call Thursday, Elias said, "We believe at the end of the day, Senator Nelson is going to be declared the victor and is going to return to the United States Senate". A hearing was set for 3 state court. The state conducts an electronic recount when the margin falls below 0.5 percent.

Andrew Gillum - with his wife, RJ - is the state's Democratic nominee for governor.

On Thursday, Scott and Senate Republicans filed a lawsuit demanding the recount be halted. Scott's lead over Sen.

He said that if Scott follows through on his "veiled threat" of blocking the ongoing count of "ballots that have been lawfully cast", he would quickly go to court.

His lead narrowed as final ballots in heavily Democratic Broward and Palm Beach counties were counted Wednesday and Thursday.

In 2000, Florida decided the presidency by a few hundred votes in a contest that took more than five weeks to sort out.

"As soon as Democrats sent their best Election stealing lawyer, Marc Elias, to Broward County they miraculously started finding Democrat votes".

With the developments raising partisan tensions to fresh highs, Trump weighed in to allege a major corruption scandal was brewing, while fellow Republican Marco Rubio of Florida accused Democrats of a coordinated effort to "steal the election". The question is, "what is Governor Rick Scott going to do about it?" Those very votes may end up deciding who becomes the next governor of Florida, which explains why the woman supervising the election there has come under fire by Republicans. "Let's blame the Russians and demand and immediate apology from President Putin!" he tweeted.

In July, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper reported that in a lawsuit charging Snipes had illegally destroyed ballots, she "acknowledged the processes her office [has] been using aren't flawless and that some noncitizens and felons have voted despite not being eligible-especially right before major elections, when groups are actively registering new voters".

"It is obviously corrupt", Hannity said.
