Jamal Khashoggi's body was 'dissolved', claims Erdoğan adviser

Mohammed bin Salman 'told White House' Khashoggi was a dangerous Islamist

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the U.S. he considered murdered writer Jamal Khashoggi to be a risky Islamist, media reports say.

Some officials at the State Department however said they are considering a range of disciplinary measures, including a demand to end the Saudi-led blockade of Qatar or wind down the war in Yemen. We have to ensure stability [in Saudi Arabia].

MbS, Saudi Arabia's de facto leader, said: "The incident that happened is very painful".

Prince Turki reiterated that the Kingdom is committed to bringing to justice those responsible for Khashoggi's murder "and whoever else failed to uphold the law".

But Pompeo emphasized, as Trump has, that "not only do we have important commercial relationships, but important strategic relationships, national security relationships with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we intend to make sure that those relationships remain intact".

$5 million charity was a pledge to the MiSk Foundation, a Saudi charity headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

LONDON-A month after the killing of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi, the Trump administration has chose to stand by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, having concluded that he is nearly certain to retain his grip on power despite a growing worldwide consensus that he bears responsibility for the killing, officials familiar with the deliberations said.

Khashoggi's family rejected the characterization in a statement to the newspaper.

"The tragic and unjustified" slaying of Khashoggi "is the theme of today's onslaught and demonization of Saudi Arabia in the same fashion as the previous crises".

"Jamal Khashoggi's abduction and murder is extremely troubling".

It emerged this week that bin Salman called Khashoggi a "dangerous Islamist" in a phone call with advisor to Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, just before Turkish police said they believed the missing journalist was dead.

Riyadh initially denied it had anything to do with the critic's disappearance and then changed its story several times, first claiming Khashoggi died in a fist fight before admitting Turkish evidence suggested his killing was premeditated. "To claim otherwise would be ridiculous". Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also called on Riyadh to disclose the identity of an alleged local collaborator said to have been involved in disposing of Khashoggi's body.

"In accordance with plans made in advance, the victim Jamal Khashoggi, was choked to death immediately after entering the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on October 2, 2018".

A source close to the Saudi Royal Palace told CNN last week that the location of Khashoggi's body was not known to the Saudis.
