Miami Dolphins beat Tennessee Titans in longest game in National Football League history

Miami led 7-3 when the game was suspended for almost two hours late in the first half. Tannehill looked confident in his first regular season game in over a year, even though the game took over seven hours to complete.

Grant struck like lightning when he scored on a tiebreaking 102-yard kickoff return with 14 minutes to go, and the Miami Dolphins overcame two weather delays to win the longest game since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger.

Titans' QB Blaine Gabbert has replaced Marcus Mariota, who has an elbow injury.

"It's dead time, and then you get a 10-minute warning and you have to juice it back up", he said. "I wasn't as sharp as I'd like to be". He returned to the contest, but things didn't get any better.

But the second-team quarterback job could be a fluid roster move every week for Dolphins coach Adam Gase moving forward.

Miami increased its lead to 10-3 when the teams eventually returned to the field.

"We had some missed tackles that we just can't afford", Gase said. "It was wild, but I'm really proud of our guys the way we responded".

"I won't be surprised by anything", he said. "It feels right. It feels like we're headed in the right direction". Coming back from knee surgery, he played for the first time in 21 months with mixed results. "Lots of carbs, so we will do some conditioning tomorrow".

The Dolphins feel like they have their true franchise QB on the field again.

Gase was especially unhappy about a third-quarter brawl after defensive tackle Jordan Phillips stood over injured Titans tackle Taylor Lewan and appeared to taunt him following Jones' first interception.

"There were a lot of words being said", McCain said, "and I don't think you can write them down".

"I love the way we responded, the way we were able to overcome the delays, to come out with energy after sitting around", Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill said. "Not having Ryan a year ago opened up a lot of guys' eyes that he made a big difference for us".
