US can't be trusted, Iran's Rouhani tells North Korea

John Bolton Says North Korea Hasn't Done Much To Rid Itself Of Nuclear Weapons

North Korea also accused unidentified high-level USA officials of "going against the intention of President Trump" by "making baseless allegations against us and making desperate attempts at intensifying the worldwide sanctions and pressure".

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told North Korea's foreign minister that the United States can not be trusted, Tehran's state media said, as the United States seeks a deal to rein in the North's nuclear and missile programmes. "We continue to have conversations with the government", she added.

In an interview with Fox News, John Bolton, the USA national security adviser, accused Pyongyang of failing to live up to the deal signed between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un at the Singapore summit in June, which agreed to work towards denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

"As long as the US denies even the basic decorum for its dialogue partner. one cannot expect any progress in the implementation of the DPRK-US joint statement including the denuclearization", said Pyongyang's foreign ministry, using the initials of the country's official name, warning regional security could suffer. "The worldwide society is struck by this shameless and impertinent behavior of the USA, and we also closely follow the USA behavior with high vigilance against their intentions".

North Korea accused the United States on Thursday of pushing for global sanctions despite goodwill moves by Pyongyang and said progress on denuclearization promises could not be expected if Washington continues to follow an "outdated acting script".

Russian Federation and China have called on the Security Council to consider easing sanctions to reward North Korea for opening up dialogue with the United States and halting missile tests.

A statement from the North Korean government, broadcast via the Korea Central News Agency, accused United States figures of spouting "falsehoods" about the North Korean nuclear issue. "What we need is performance from North Korea on denuclearization".

Ben Tracy and Pam Falk contributed reporting.

Ri traveled this week to Iran, where President Hassan Rouhani told him the United States can not be trusted after the Trump administration reneged on a 2015 deal to lift sanctions in return for curbs on Iran's own nuclear program.

"Rather than obsessing about the score, we will try to serve as a peace delegation with a mission to advance South-North sports exchange", Lee Sung-keun of FC Gangwon said. They said that when a session with Pompeo reached an impasse last month, North Korean officials asked if he would like to step outside to call the president, who declared after the June summit that North Korea was "no longer a nuclear threat".

Mr Bolton said Mr Pompeo would be prepared to return to North Korea for talks, but not for more rhetoric.

Satellite images from last Friday indicate North Korea has carried out additional activities to dismantle a key missile launch facility, the Washington-based 38 North think-tank said on Tuesday.
