President Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo over the weekend that he believes Pyongyang is "very serious" about denuclearization.

Sung Kim, the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines and a veteran of nuclear negotiations with Pyongyang, met with North Korean officials on Sunday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Monday.

Washington―US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo heads back to North Korea this week to flesh out the bare bones nuclear agreement between President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un. "Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining".

North Korea has repeatedly demanded security guarantees in exchange for any denuclearization, arguing that the goal of the Kim regime's nuclear weapons program is to protect the communist dictatorship from a theoretical American attack.

The White House has declined to comment on the prospect, maintaining that the U.S.is continuing to make progress with the nation.

The president was referring to the talks that Sung Kim, the USA ambassador to the Philippines, and his delegation had with North Korean officials over the weekend in Panmunjom, a village on the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas.

"Now we'll let their actions speak for themselves", he said.

White House national security adviser John Bolton offered up new details on Sunday about the path toward the nuclear disarmament of North Korea and addressed a recent Washington Post report suggesting that the country plans to deceive the United States about its nuclear stockpile.

Secretary of state Mike Pompeo is due to meet Kim in early July.

North Korea is completing a major expansion of a key missile-manufacturing plant, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing researchers who have examined new satellite imagery from San Francisco-based Planet Labs Inc.

The daily, citing intelligence officials, said that the United States intelligence officials have concluded that North Korea does not intend to fully surrender its nuclear stockpiles.

The Washington Post on Saturday cited unnamed us intelligence officials as concluding that North Korea does not intend to fully surrender its nuclear stockpile.

USA officials also said they were not convinced that North Korea was stopping missile production and testing.

Harry Kazianis, Executive Editor of The National Interest and Director of Defense Studies at the Center for the National Interest, says it seems the North Koreans "don't have any intention of denuclearizing".

"He wants to understand the Russian position, but, more importantly, he wants Putin to understand our position", Bolton said.
