Lawmaker will resign after shouting slur on Sacha Baron Cohen's TV show

Sacha Baron Cohen best known as Ali G right posed as an Israeli intelligence official to embarrass Jason Spencer

Jason Spencer, the Georgia lawmaker who yelled the n-word (repeatedly) and showed his ass (literally) on Sacha Baron Cohen's Who Is America?

Sacha Baron Cohen's new series Who Is America? is ending political careers.

He also drops his pants, then his underwear, before backing his exposed rear end towards Cohen while shouting "USA!" and "America!" after Cohen told him the move would incite fear in homophobic jihadists.

Spencer apologized on Monday, but said he won't resign for "this ridiculously ugly episode".

Mr Spencer lost the Republican primary in May, but he could have remained in public office through the November election.

Finally, Baron Cohen tells Spencer the best way to scare off a terrorist is to chase them with your buttocks, and they are scared of homosexuality.

In an email, the text of which was later sent to the Washington Post, Mr Spencer wrote: "This email/letter is to serve as an official resignation notice to your office that I will be resigning my post effective 31 July 2018".

Ralston and others had called for his immediate resignation.

Editor's note: Republican Rep. Jason Spencer is a Georgia state legislator.

After the video aired this past weekend, Spencer was forced to resign.

"Spencer bares his backside and is instructed to back into Cohen's character in a simulation for confronting a presumably homophobic ISIS member, after the comedian tells him that an Israeli Mossad saying dictates, "'If you want to win, you show some skin'".

Losing that seems like a fitting end to a man who tried to keep healthcare from his own constituents, but still, Who Is America? can, at times, be painful to watch-and not just because it demonstrates how stupid and/or evil and/or corrupt Americans really are, because the show doesn't just take on people in power. Nathan Deal said in a tweet: "There is no excuse for this type of behavior, ever, and I am saddened and disgusted by it".
