Video as 23 feet python swallows mother of two

Villagers find a 54-year-old woman in the stomach of a seven-metre python on Muna island Indonesia on 15 June 2018

The stomach-churning incident left residents of the remote village in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, terrified for their lives. "She was swallowed first from her head".

According to The Jakarta Post, the 54-year old housewife had gone missing on Thursday night after she went to check on her corn plantation located 1km away from her house.

The woman's body was found inside the reptile's body after villagers sliced open the python's carcass.

Wa Tiba's family and villagers launched a search for her.

The Chief of local police, Agus Ramos said, "The villagers who were suspicious brought the python back to the village and cut it open".

"When they cut open the snake's belly, they found Tiba's body still intact with all her clothes", Faris said.

"People took the snake into the village and started splitting the snake".

The police chief said that the garden where the victim disappeared was at the base of a cliff and known to be a home for snakes.

Reticulated pythons are common throughout Indonesia and other areas of Southeast Asia but they rarely kill humans.

Giant pythons, which regularly top 5.7m (19ft), are commonly found in Indonesia and the Philippines.

While they have been known to attack small animals, attempts to eat people are rare.

In a similar occurrence, a man was also reportedly swallowed by a snake at a palm oil plantation in West Sulawesi in March 2017. Nevertheless, just such a horror took place on an adjacent island a year ago, when a man's body was extracted from a 23-foot-long python, shown in a gruesome YouTube video.
