Priest caught on tape violently grabbing & slapping baby during baptism

Angry priest slaps baby who wouldn’t stop crying during baptism

The priest continues and says: "Now you calm down".

"Calm down!" the priest repeated aggressively, but the baby's cries increased.

It goes on to show the priest, clearly annoyed by the baby's crying, grab the child's head on several occasions before eventually slapping the child in an attempt to calm it down.

The exact location of the church and the date of the incident are unclear, although the video surfaced on the internet on Wednesday.

The priest loses his temper with the upset child and delivers a hard slap across the face. I'll scream louder than you, okay? Seems like he was getting frustrated. "I was trying to calm him down; I didn't really know what to do".

The man who appears to be the child's father then steps in, prising the child out of the priest's grip, even as the cleric struggles for possession of the child.

"I wonder how many millions of kids suffer inappropriately aged "discipline" like this behind the scenes in religious families who believe this is biblically sanctioned, though", One woman wrote.

Unbelievably, there were some commenters who defended the priest's actions.

The video shows the man vigorously dunking the small child into the water before being handed back to seemingly unperturbed parents.

In a 40-second clip posted online, the French-speaking priest is seen to lash out in frustration during the ceremony as the tiny child is held by a woman though to be his mother. The clergyman soon held the child's neck and gave him a violent hug.
