Marcelo: 'Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day'

Curry von Golden State Warriors

Brazil superstar Marcelo is confident that his countryman Neymar Jr will someday play for Spanish League giants Real Madrid.

Brazil defender Marcelo Vieira said in a press conference on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo "does not own" Real Madrid and that the door "is open" if Neymar wants to join the club.

He's an artist, one of the best players in the world, a key player to help us win our matches.

Per Goal's Chris Burton, speculation about the pair is rife, with Neymar linked to Real Madrid throughout his entire stay with Paris Saint-Germain, whom he joined from Barcelona previous year. "If the president [Florentino Perez] wants somebody, he'll pick somebody".

According to a report from ESPN, Ronaldo is "determined" to end his nine-year stay in the Spanish capital, but will only make a switch to clubs playing in particular competitions.

Not for the first time in recent years, the multi-Ballon d'Or victor appeared to be slightly unhappy with life at the Bernabeu, wasting no time at all after the Champions League final to make it known that he might be playing his football elsewhere next season.

The full-back has also rubbished suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo could look to block the move and insists that there is no reason why Ronaldo and Neymar could not be at the club together. It will be interesting to see what the player does with regards to his future and the longer Madrid don't have a manager, there will be more such stories coming out.

The injury, which some feared may keep him out of the World Cup healed in time for him to fire past Croatia in a friendly at Anfield last weekend.

"Madrid always have to find the best players and I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day".

"To me, Ronaldo is the world's greatest right now and I have no doubt in my mind that Neymar will be just as good". "Thanks to them I have won so much". I know Sergio for 12 years, I play with Firmino for four years, in the Brazilian squad.
