United to sign Brazil MF Fred

Fred drops massive Manchester United transfer hint on Instagram

A bid for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has been confirmed by the Brazilian worldwide, and it also appears United are lining up a move for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld.

Fred's an experienced player and his inclusion in Brazil's World Cup squad shows his quality.

According to various sources, Fred's agent, who is Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva, held talks with United last week and now negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Fred joined Shakhtar from Brazilian side Internacional in 2013.

Fred is expected to cost around £53million, which is his release clause, with Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov adamant that the Ukrainian club will extract maximum value for the midfielder.

Manchester City were thought to be close to a deal to sign the South American in the summer transfer window but a deal didn't materialise.

Whilst Nemanja Matic greatly impressed for United following his summer transfer from rivals Chelsea, France global Paul Pogba had a season to forget, with the former Juventus man putting in a number of ineffective performances that saw Mourinho lose faith in the 25-year-old. United hierarchy is trying to put things on the place and the Red Devils could announce his arrival before the World Cup which is scheduled to take off from June 14.

That deal could likely happen sooner, as Shakhtar are looking to command a fee in the region of £52 million.

However, speaking at a press conference while with the Brazil national team, Fred has claimed he will only address his playing future after the World Cup. But also, a squad with three or four Brazilian athletes, depending on their profile, can not make a great team too.

"It's an honour to be on the radar of great European coaches".

United photographer Craig Norwood has followed Fred on the social media site, which is pretty big because he supposedly only does that when a deal is finalised.
