Trump Responds to Fury Over Roseanne, but Not Her Racist Remarks

ABC Entertainment's president Channing Dungey announced on Tuesday that the network made a decision to cancel the "Roseanne" reboot following Barr's tweet comparing Jarrett to an ape.

A day after the network pulled the plug on the hit "Roseanne" reboot in response to her tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a longtime adviser and close friend of former President Barack Obama, the comedian tweeted Wednesday that her initial remark was "unforgivable" and "egregious". It's unclear what "statements" Trump is referencing in the tweet, but it likely relates to ABC News' coverage of his presidency.

Williams also called out Barr's attempt to defend herself by tweeting, "It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting - it was Memorial Day".

And President Donald Trump finally weighed in on the rapidly unfolding controversy Wednesday, questioning why the head of ABC parent company Disney had called Valerie Jarrett — the target of Barrs racist comments — to apologize, when he hadnt received similar treatment. "That's on you. You did this to yourself", she added in comments directed at Barr.

Valerie Jarrett did not seek the spotlight when she served as a senior adviser to former U.S. president Barack Obama, but has found herself at the centre of a media storm in recent days.

But, in a renewed Twitter storm, Barr first lashed out at Michael Fishman, who played D.J. Connor on the original series and in the revival.

"I think that's one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN", Sanders said at the time.

Barr had earlier apologized to members of the cast and crew, but the tweet was deleted. Barr has yet to respond to the show's cancellation. Trump even called Barr personally to congratulate her on the show's success. "I am disappointed in her actions to say the least", she wrote on Twitter.

ABC cancelled the rival following the outage over Barr's tweet, calling her joke "abhorrent". "It just shocked me a bit, but I indeed f--ed up", she wrote.
