'Shots fired' at Trump golf club - cops scrambled

Police take down active shooting suspect at Trump National Doral Golf Club

Doral and Miami-Dade police were sent to the Trump National after receiving multiple calls of an active shooter in the lobby of the resort's hotel around 1:30 a.m.

Perez said that early reports were of the man, whose identity has not been released, walking into the lobby with an American flag yelling about President Donald Trump - but that has not been confirmed by investigators.

Police explained the suspect pulled the lobby's fire alarm to lure officers inside.

Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said the man was shouting about Trump, and "actively shooting".

Police did not say if a weapon was recovered or offer other details on the incident.

A police chief says the shooting suspect at the Trump National Doral resort in south Florida tried to "ambush" officers, but lost a gunfight with them.

Trump famously criticised former President Barack Obama for playing too much golf during his time in office.

The suspect is a 42-year-old resident of Doral, Florida, and is in stable condition after police shot him in an exchange of gunfire, Perez said. Police were preparing a search warrant to enter Oddi's house, Perez said.

"He was yelling and spewing some information about President Trump and that's what we know so far".

Eric Trump hailed the officers' response in a Twitter submit Friday morning.

Initial reports are that he had been waving an American flag inside the lobby of the resort and anxious workers called 911, WTVJ-Ch. We are very grateful to you!

The resort, which was previously known as the Doral Resort & Spa, was bought by the Trump Organization in 2012. The huge property has 4 programs - its most signature being the Blue Monster, which has hosted quite a few PGA Tour and World Golf Championships occasions that includes the world's prime golfers.
