The consulting producer on Roseanne tweeted that she would not be returning to the show.

ABC Entertainment cancels Roseanne Barr's show, calling her comment on Twitter "abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values".

"Don't feel sorry for me, guys!" she wrote, adding an apology to "the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet".

Barr quickly deleted the tweet and, after the initial flood of controversy, Barr took to Twitter to take back her remarks, writing, "I apologize. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but.don't defend it please".

"I'm fine", she said Tuesday on MSNBC's "Everyday Racism" town hall.

"Look at Roseanne-I called her yesterday-look at her ratings, look at her ratings!" said the president saying the show, "was about us [the supporters and the president himself]".

In a statement the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People president and CEO, Derrick Johnson, described Barr's comments as "appalling and reminiscent of [a] horrific time in our history when racism was not only acceptable but promoted by Hollywood". "I hope the good work done is not totally eclipsed by these abhorrent and offensive comments, and that Roseanne seeks the help she so clearly needs". "I hope you can accept this honest apology!" she wrote in a tweet to Jarrett.

On Tuesday, the chairman of the network's parent company, Disney, said the cancellation "was the right thing" to do, and Barr was dropped by ICM Partners, the talent agency that represented her.

ABC's own Jimmy Kimmel said, "Roseanne compared an African-American woman - a former adviser to President Obama - to an ape, which did not sit well with ABC management or anyone with a brain, really". "Forgive me - my joke was in bad taste".

"I'm fine. I'm anxious about the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense".

Barr also retweeted numerous messages of support and defences of her original tweet, including from alt-right figures such as Jack Posobiec and Thomas Wictor.

Born on November 3, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Barr started out as a stand-up comedian before starring in "Roseanne", which made her an overnight star. She says in one of her tweets, there were three rapid-fire today, where she said: 'It was a joke.

"Making Roseanne Conner a passionate Trump supporter in the face of all that - especially when the reboot barely examined why she made the choice - just felt like a cop-out forced by the fact that star Roseanne Barr supports the president in real life". Because Barr has been behaving repugnantly on Twitter for some time, feeding insane right-wing conspiracy theories and peddling anti-Muslim propoganda.

"I think we have to turn it into a teaching moment", she said. "That's what we say in show business".
